Well, it is partially true. They are discussing banning first person shooters. Jail time for distributing them.

I don't want to go into details as it deeply saddens me. Not because I love those games, but because one can clearly see how politics are made. The people proposing those laws have absolutely NO idea what they are talking about. They blame a massacre on a game and ignore the humiliation the guy had to suffer in school. They blame the game and tell the media, that he learned in a game how to shoot. They ignore that clicking a mouse button is not a realistic training. It is populistic bullshit and people believe them.
Beckstein (one of the guys behind that proposed law) is a far right politician that has been on my radar for years for talking utter crap.

Ok, obviously one guy in a different state (Niedersachsen) is even worse than Beckstein (Bayern), which is pretty difficult.. They acually want jail time for owning those games. This country is getting worse every day.

madpeople

this is the sort of thing i would expect in America.

they blame their school shootings on Marilyn Manson

and thing harry potter promotes witchcraft, and iron maiden is satanic

lol @ crazy Christians

oh well, at-least britain isn't sucking so badly; our main problems in the news right now is some guy is killing our prostitutes, used to be the kgb were killing their defectors with radiation

You are only partially correct. Liberals use school shooting and such in order to ban guns. A few Christians may point to music as part of the reason, but that is as far as it goes really. We do not ban music. You may point to the [PMRC] Parents Music Reasource Center, and say they try to censor music and movies and games...but I must point to you, who is on their board, the co-founder of the organization is none other than former Vice President Al Gore's wife, Tipper Gore. It is a liberal agenda, not a Christian one. Christians do point to the Harry Potter books and films as potentially dangerous for young minds because it does indeed bring back ancient beliefs of witchcraft. I will also point out, Harry Potter is not illegal in America. Same with games.

So, before you begin to bash us "crazy" Christians, please check out the information 1st

Oh, and Iron Maiden does have some satanic and pagan songs, I didn't think anyone was trying to deny this fact?? :?

It is an interesting case, the radiation spy. I think that the Russians did not poision him. I think he was involved in a plutonium sale, underground.

mis-interpretation there
"crazy christians" not "crazy" christians.

i'm referring to the ones who did the whole lets blame music for columbine, harry potter promotes witchcraft, iron maiden worship Satan (note here that a few of there members are quite christian)
wikipedia says it well
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Iron_Maiden#The_next_level

QuoteOh, and Iron Maiden does have some satanic and pagan songs, I didn't think anyone was trying to deny this fact?? :?
they have songs on those subjects yes, but they aren't about promoting it.
on number of the beast
Quote from: wikipediaIron Maiden's current drummer, Nicko McBrain, is a born-again Christian, and is happy to play the song, which he sees as a warning against Satanism.

i would say they are more pro christian than anti christian
songs like "for the greater good of god", there is a bit at the end that touched me even as an atheist

He gave his life for us
He fell upon the cross
To die for all of those
who never mourn his loss

perhaps its because of the tone of his voice, and the music, but it is kinda moving.

holy smoke, criticizing people who used christianty to make money.

Well, don't get me wrong, I do not think the band members are or ever were satanic. However, they do have songs written about the subject, and that's all I was pointing out.

You cannot expect older generations to understand this. Besides this, the folks against such types of music are not particularly interested in the band's personal views, but how impressionable youth take the songs, which is a difference.

Keep in mind, the same group wanting to censor and ban such things are the same folks who attack the family unit. An example:

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/pages/live/articles/health/healthmain.html?in_article_id=422586&in_page_id=1774

They are all high on prozac and have no clue wtf they are doing. In the end, it is up to the parents to raise their kids, not the government. Each parent should have the responsibility to say what their kid can and cannot view/play/listen to, NOT THE GOVERNMENT.

Alice Cooper had a TV interview once concerning darker lyrics of music and pointed out that music, same as TV shows, movies, or books, all have the same kind of influence...and if the kid was going to snap, he was going to snap, it doesn't really matter if he was listening to a song, or watching a movie, the dude would still have snapped.

There is all of western civilization trying to blame anything but the person themselves. Which to me, is insanity. If music makes you kill, then how is it that I have listened to bands like Slayer for 10+ years, yet have not killed anyone? Have their been days where I feel like stomping someone's head into a concrete slab? Sure. But I did nor have not. This is because I am aware that I am responsible for my own actions.

In the Bible, Genesis, when the serpent talks Eve into eating from the Tree of Knowledge, then Eve gets Adam to eat etc... When G-d asks Adam why he is hiding in the bushes, Adam replies "I am naked." G-d says, "who told you that you were naked?" Adam replies that he ate some of the fruit that G-d told him not to eat. When G-d asks Adam why he did this, Adam turns around and points his finger at Eve "she tricked me." When G-d goes to Eve and asks her why she had done this, Eve turns around and points her finger at the serpent, "the serpent tricked me."

We can see that since the beggining human nature is to put the blame on the other person and escape self responsibility. We can see the same today. Nothing has changed.
