My first joystick was the same brand but different model as Bier's(Logitech Wingman Extreme - which I broke the stick in two pieces after a INT dogfight w/Cali one day
)
My next joystick was the Saitek Cyborg Evolution (I broke the trigger in about two days
the hand support on the stick was next to break
)
My latest joystick is another Saitek Cyborg Evolution. An updated model,but everything is the same, the trigger seems more sturdy(I have yet to break this one - plus am a little more cautious with it the 2nd time around). The stick is kinda loose now, but still works ok....though it does make me slide some now when I am in dogfight(which causes me to get podded more often than usual).
I plan to buy a new Saitek Cyborg Evolution soon.
1. I play too rough, causing undue damage to the joystick. So, probably no matter which joystick I buy, I'm going to end up breaking it
2. Even though a bit fragile, (due to plastic parts and my craziness in the heat of battle) it handles Alleg very well IMO(giving you 9 buttons, as well as turning,twisting,and throttle...leaving all the other functions for the keyboard and mouse,which allows you to react faster).
Bier - I would make a suggestion, to try your brother's joystick and feel how it handles. The stick actions is more tight, and allows you to move your ship with greator accuracy. The logitech is fine, dont get me wrong, but the logitech stick is more loose,calling for a more steady hand,whereas the saitek is not so sensative.
Either joystick works well for Alleg tho
I paid $38 for my Logitech, and $49 for my Saitek (tax included).
